Setting up WooCommerce for a Pakistani online store involves more than just installing the plugin. You need to configure local payment gateways, set up shipping zones for Pakistani cities, and ensure your store is optimised for Pakistani buyers. This guide covers the complete setup.

Step 1: Install WooCommerce

From your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New and search for WooCommerce. Install and activate it. The setup wizard will guide you through the basic configuration — store location (Pakistan), currency (PKR), and what you are selling.

Step 2: Configure JazzCash

JazzCash is essential for any Pakistani e-commerce store. Install the JazzCash WooCommerce plugin from the WordPress plugin repository. You will need a JazzCash merchant account — apply at jazzcash.com.pk. Once approved, enter your Merchant ID, password, and integrity salt in the plugin settings. Always test with a small transaction before going live.

Step 3: Configure EasyPaisa

EasyPaisa integration works similarly. Install the EasyPaisa WooCommerce plugin and configure it with your Telenor Microfinance Bank merchant credentials. Both JazzCash and EasyPaisa support mobile wallet payments and OTC (over-the-counter) payments at their agent networks.

Step 4: Add Cash on Delivery

WooCommerce includes COD built-in. Enable it under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments. COD remains the most popular payment method in Pakistan — do not skip it.

Step 5: Set Up Shipping Zones

Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping. Create zones for major Pakistani cities — Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and then a general Pakistan zone. Set flat rates or free shipping thresholds for each zone. If you use TCS or Leopards Courier, their WooCommerce plugins can calculate shipping rates automatically.

Step 6: Configure Taxes

Enable taxes under WooCommerce > Settings > General. For most Pakistani retail businesses, you will need to apply GST at the applicable rate. Consult your accountant for your specific tax obligations.

Step 7: Test Your Store

Before launching, place test orders using each payment method. Check that order confirmation emails are sent, stock levels update correctly, and that the checkout process works on mobile — where the majority of Pakistani online shoppers browse.
